Motie's are fully-furred with their crotches covered in darker fur. Also, the neck is supposed to be entirely non-existent(No real chin and no real shoulder[Merged with the head]). I've always pictured them with almost entirely tilted heads.
I'm currently re-reading 'Mote' but it's hard for me to picture the Motie's as furry so I understand the reasoning behind it. The Engineer's fur is described as "smooth... [like] Doberman pinschers" and I always think of them as smooth-skinned creatures. It occurred tome that the only way I could ever create a Motie would be to sculpt it and I'm not good at that either...
One way or another, this is the only Motie that I've seen with the hands on the correct sides and is actually very good... considering that no really high-quality art of Moties exist.
this is just a sketch for fun (witch tells how much I liked the book, I draw a motie instead of play a game). If I ever illustrate a motie properly I'll have in mind your description.
From my memory (it's been a long time since I read either of the Mote books--the other being "The Gripping Hand") this is very good. Although I think Turbolinux999's critique is probably right.
Great job!

Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
