I only use gouache for the white areas, i.e. the highlights. I don´t really mix waterclours with the gouache. Thanks for asking! 
Thanks for the reply! I use gouache for the same thing, the white zones, still am not such a master to know exactly where the white will fit perfectly (But I'll try the mix, oh yes, I'm getting curious)
