I agree, I always imagine Melkor more as a person rather than this nasty demonic monster looking thing that we see so often in fanart. I did imagine him to be massive but i assume he can change his size at will

he was a person... but he did not have the power to change appearance as he willed after the theft of the Silmarils. The Silmarillion states, "Once again the wore the guise which of old he had as tyrant of Utumno, a Dark Lord great and terrible; but that power he would soon loose forever..."
