Ha. I can understand. Believe me, I can. I wrote a poem for a best friend. He was pretty much everything and I set him on this pedestal. Turns out, he was nothing like I thought he was.

Yep. It sucks, but in the end it only makes the deceived stronger.

Well in some yes, but it is by chance. Makes some weaker, susceptible to fall under it again. Depends mainly on the person it happens to really.

I do not think it makes you weaker. If you survive something, it makes you stronger. It can weaken defenses, but ultimately you learn from what has happened. It hurts for a short amount of time, but even that pain makes you a bit stronger.
I suppose it is possible to say that the weaker ones die.
But in that case I find that to be natural selection.
