I thought that was a Dingo because there forever getting into peoples garbage over there and eating up thier garden stuff. my point, though meant to be both humorous and exagorated, was that the characteristics of those animals dont campare to the fiercness of that of say a Lion or Wolf. I mean come on try putten them in a fight against one another. badger v' Wolf? don't think so.Just seemed far fetch to me-what the H does a badger hafta do with Japan?

It could be; I don't know all that much about Australia.... This is true, but the symbolism of ancient Japanese fables was somewhat esoteric, on common with a lot of old folktales. There is other symbolism at work too, as the badger meant to be cowardly and sneaky and other things too, wheras lions (which the Japenese wouldn't have know about at the time the fable was written) and wolves tend to have more positive attributes. Badgers are actually native to Japan; they have a very wide distribution. ;)
