This is on the shores of the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

I know it looked like it, that is why I asked. Great Salt Lake was my favorite place to take photos while I lived in Utah. It has been awhile since I saw the land so dried up, was this taken from the causeway?

Yes it was. Great memory!
There's some incredible scenery around the lake and hardly anyone ever goes there. Very strange considering there are close to 2 million people living nearby.
Here are a few more:

Did you hear about the petition the "Friends of Great Salt Lake" wanted to do against some big companies trying to drill there that would cause birds to stop going there?" [link]

Also, have you visited spiral jeddy? And yes, no one but tourists go there, but I think it's because most have lived there entire lives there and it's nothing short of weeds, small game and the same old mountains :P I found the GSL a place to get away, go onto buffalo hill right up past the small diner then hike down to the shore or sit on top of the mountain and watch the sun go down. It's amazing there.

Thanks for the link! I'll keep watching the site and help with petitions as they come up. It's really sad that so many here only see the lake for what they can dig out of it and sell.
Yes, I've been to the jetty a couple of years ago when it was exposed. Very strange place. I also love the view bellow buffalo point, especially at sunset. That metallic sheen on the lake with the mountains above it pretty spectacular and you captured it very well in your panoramic image from there.
