I only model in POV-Ray...and have never been able to do anything close to this level of detail; it's a very...manual process. But every thing you put up makes me want to try, both the sketches and the rendered stuff. Your designs are just incredible.

Just out of curiosity, what's the scale of this thing? Or maybe I should just go look at the cutaways... ;)

I'm happy you find my work inspiring. I would encourage you to try your hand at modeling if you feel the desire. In some ways, vehicles and manmade environments are the easiest. They do tend to have a lush complexity to them, but it tends to involve a lot of repetition and be reducible to simple forms. The 'Arken' herself is at heart a collection of cubes that have been tapered and chamfered, with the cargo container, cockpit, and engines dominating the form. Don't let the details that are added afterward intimidate you.

The scale of the 'Arken' is something that was never put to paper as a concrete number, and will probably be a bit elastic on screen for purposes of drama and composition. I would estimate that she is about 80-90 feet long, or the length of two school buses or so.
