Just saying ahead of time, I'm not trying to be offensive in any way.

You talk of originality but all the links you included show furry/dragon art (one of the most common types of art, on DA and elsewhere). There may be variations in each piece, that's true, but they all basically contain the same concepts/ideas.
Also, most of them don't really have an interesting pose, point of view, or even a background.

in my opinion, an original piece opens up people's mind to new ideas, make them think in ways they have never thought before, or at least show something that would be difficult to put in a common or overused category.

however, dragons, for some reason, kick ass no matter how overused they are. -_o

Everything is subjective, isn't it? ) Let's say first and foremost, that ALL dragons and dragon-like beasts mostly contain same concepts and ideas and it all comes to these variations you are talking about - they may make the creature look more or less interesting or unusual. These creatures I have showed here I personally find interesting (especially sergals - have you seen many shark-faced raptor-like anthro creatures, which would also have such charisma? I haven't) I have seen PLENTY and plenty of dragon/beast art but the creatures I name here stand out FOR ME, and I know, that not only me - I shall recognize them anywhere and anytime. But once again, everything is subjective.

However, even though we don't seem to share the same vision of originality, you do seem to support what the stamp stands for ;3
