Hm. The hair is good, but the rest of the piece reads as a bit muddy. I think the messy edges on the scarf is a fabric texture, right? But it reads as a little unfinished. Maybe go in with some smaller brush and make little strokes to seem more like fabric. I'd also work on smoothing some things out (like the shirt and maybe parts of the face) and work on your shadows. They might look darker on your screen, but from here the darkest darks seem to be all one tone, and they should be darker where the edges overlap (between the scarf and her neck, between the scarf and her jacket.)

I'd also maybe put some warmer tones in her face? Her hair is very red and she's looking rather pale and pasty because of it. Also maybe put some evidence of the lighting in the background, instead of just a flat color.

Still, pretty nice. Are all the portraits you're doing going to be head on, or are you going to do a variety of views?

thanks for the crit Beth =) yeah... in the critique yesterday when he had it up on the projector, it looked really dark =\ I need to test it on different screens to make sure I'm preserving the colors. lol, omg... EVERYONE liked the hair, and it's the thing I ended up slapping on last second xD; And yeah, I was going to make the scarf and shirt look more like fabric, but I ended up running out of time and patience .__. But I'll be fixing that.

as for the pov, ehhhh... I've been toying around with changing it, so it's not head on. The lighting will change thought for each person, and each with have a different color theme.
