See, that's the thing. Going on pure speculative fiction, brain cells could be replaced. So on a cellular level, one day you're just going to realize that you're getting smarter, or less forgetful, or whatever. After those seven years have passed, *ka-ching*, full blown machine, and you never needed to worry about dieing in/because of the process.
It's still a powerful question in some ways. Because while anybody can speculate that this is the case, we cannot say for sure without experiencing ourselves. For all we know, anybody who went through such a process has been replaced by a perfect copy, slowly dying and incapable of stopping it.

Again, it's analogous to asking what happens after death, so it might be a bit whimsical to speculate on the answer.
