my friend signed some petition, but she didn't know it was from PETA. they were stalking her for about a month, trying to get her to sign more things, before she finally did something and got rid of them.

Yea, I know, right? That's why I tend to avoid PETA, while their mission statement and all is well and good, in the end they end up executing it in a more... absurd fashion.
I think they're just people who like power. They probably found that they could get a following if they were 'fighting for animal rights' and all that kind of thing.
