Ahhh, sadly all the authentic research and references are a bit lost on me... since I am unfamiliar with the series you are referencing (but my interest has been peeked by your little melodrama :D )

That being said, the quality of the image itself is NOT lost on me! I love all the glowing detailed screens and the dynamic view angle is quite cool as well. You do a good job of walking the line of referencing the feel of a submarine/ship bridge, but making it look futuristic enough that its seems appropriate for a space-war-ship. Awesome work Wes!! :D

If you like space opera, then the books are well worth picking up. I think the first one "On Basalisk Station" is available free online through BAEN actually.

Cheers mate. I had to stamp on myself a few times during the bridge design process to avoid any un-needed design flourishes =P The naval architects of the honorverse seem to have a very practical approach to design. Well at least in the Manticoran/Grason, Havenite and Andermani seem to. The Solarian League's latest round of refits were apparently designed to "make the bridge look cooler on recruitment videos" =P
What'd the Sollies do *this* time?

I can't remember the details, but it was either in one of the books or possibly on "Pearls of Weber" it was noted that, while Manticore and Haven were trying to kill each other and madly developing new technology... the Sollies were trying to make their ships prettier to get more people to join the Navy. I guess it's a bit like how governments are currently trying to make the military look more attractive to increase recruitment.
Gaah! The Sollies are idiots.

That they are... I'm looking forward to their wakeup call (haven't read the latest book yet, don't know what happens), though I think the Battle of Monica may have taught them a thing or two ;)

Nuthing like bureaucracy and a severe case of "not made here" to mess with your combat efficiency.
Add in what Terekhov did to Frontier Security in Shadows of Saganami, and the Sollies have got to be pretty stemed with the Star Empire right now, of course, the SLN isn't completely incompetent, so they realize the Manticorans, and their friends could really hurt them, push come to shove.

Yeah, not to mention that Mesa's apparently got a trick or two up its sleeve as well... it may be Manticore and Haven in for a shock yet.
