Well,
we routinely replace many PARTS of the human skeletal system with metal, even complex movable joints with great range of motion.
By extrapolation I think it's theoretically POSSIBLE to do more than just a few.
However organic bone growth has self healing and regenerative capabilities to wear and use which metal DOES NOT. So that issue would have to be addressed it seems to me for the process to be effective over the long term.

Well, there is that...but I'd also be worried about rust too. :D

But who knows, maybe one day, when we do arrive at that technological level and skill, we'll either find or create some kind of metal or alloy that can outlive us, or a way to, in a sense, "regenerate" the metal.
