I understand, i also don't tend to do tutorials. I guess i'll have to practice...
Just 2 things tho:
1. Do you start off by sketching the idea first? How do you start? I'm completely lost...
2. To what extent do you use photoshop's filters and stuff. I mean: Is it all just airbrush or do you use effects (aside from blending modes and custom brushes)

I do usually have a sketch and refine it a bit then go over it, as for photoshop I use Gausian blur and motion blur sometimes but not many other filters, High pass is usefull though.
