Mine definitely were! They'd be just as comfortable as the base shoes you use are. I'd owned the clogs I used for a few years prior, so they were nice and broken in, and super comfy. 
So just make sure the shoes you use for a base are comfy, and you shouldn't have any problem~!

Oh trust me, I've had to wear horribly painful shoes for cosplay before, and it isn't any fun at all! ;o; But these ones are definitely some of the comfiest I've gotten to wear~. 
That would suck. I'll have to make a point to get comfy shoes when I start cosplaying.
