I've never been able to determine her ethnicity - probably Romanian, but she could also be Hungarian. (I believe that Transylvania was part of Hungary "in her time", around 1700.) She says she's completely bilingual in both of those languages, as well as some German, and a few politesses in French - which she hasn't used in three hundred years and has completely forgotten. No English at all - but her thoughts come to me in unaccented, slangy American English. (Somehow not very surprising, actually.)
