Yeah, like mentioned, some things and characters from the trilogy have made tricks to my memory. But I have to say that despite the movie trilogy, this is how I have seen Balrog to look like; more like a man than a demon, wearing an self-made or created armour like Sauron did. The Balrog in the movie was impressive, nonetheless. No need to say but I freaked out of happiness when I saw the fotr's Moria-scene at first time
It has been interesting to see how other people have pictured Balrog, like many other creatures, in their minds. There exists as many depictions as artists.
