I personally think it's very hard to design a logomark for a photographer. Basically a tightrope walk between commonly-used symbols and generic shapes. A lot of people (like yourself) stick with just a logotype, which I did for another photographer here: [link] . Having the logotype speak for itself is not a bad decision.
