Neat! I have always wanted to try my hand at making fonts. Would you recommend programs or tutorials?

FontCreator is the program I have been using for my fonts, and it is great for beginners. They have a free demo but it will not actually allow you to save the fonts you make which sucks. But the professional version of the program is around 150 dollars I think which is one tenth of the cost of FontLab, the much more advanced and preferred program.
I recently began using fontab, and am a novice in using it, but it is a much better program. Unfortuneatly, it also costs upwards of $600...
But I have had great results w/ FontCreator, and I do reccommend it, it is worth the price
