well he worked 35 years at Ford and retired with a decent home and 4 kids 2 Cars and a boat so I'd say he did fairly well. The Mafia didn't play much role in it though. although he never did talk to much about it. We found out most of the details through his brother.

Oh yeah, do you know which major family he may have been affiliated/friends with?

sadly no. There's a lot they still wont tell me. They being My Aunt and Uncle who actually know about his dealings. Judging from their opinion toward the topic it's probably not a discussion I want to push. I have a feeling there were things that happened that they just want to forget.

Sounds like an enforcer... from what I understand what they generally did was get one or two guys on the payroll of a hotel/restaurant/etc. that was under their "protection".

In the book I've been reading on the mob, it explained that some mobsters are "fair" and make a deal to keep an affordable number of guys on the payroll of a business, and then would ensure that no other mobs/thieves messed with the place, keeping everybody happy. Others mobsters extort places for all they're worth... and are generally not very popular. :p

Robert Lino Jr. was an interesting crime boss from the 90's to ~2000's. He was generally considered both very secretive, but also very fair. He's not on wikipedia yet, but his older cousin Frank Lino is.

Anyway. We're really off-topic. :p

Yes I do believe enforcer would have been the term. I do know that it was a tradition that kept up in the family, at least to the best of what I know.
