Heh, I have so many unfinished paintings that I stopped working on because they weren't going as well as I'd wanted. It's definitely the case that the more fun you're having, the easier it is to paint! ^^ Doesn't always have to be spontaneous, but that doesn't hurt either. ^^
Exactly, that's happens to me too. I get bored of some drawing I've been doing and the leave it unfinished.
I still have to find the right balance between persistence, patience, spontaneity, fun, technique, etc. Sounds like cooking! lol But love for what you do, must be the most important thing IMHO. Just like cooking!
