For being your first oil painting, I think that this is one of my favorite pieces of artwork that I've seen in a while, in all honesty. Even if you feel like your technique in applying paint was a bit basic, I feel like you pulled it off fantastically. Your knowledge of art shows in the way you can transition from mediums and still have great success.
That said, I actually like this enough that I'm going to try to emulate the style that you used for this in my own first oil painting.

I only knew him for one or two illustrations for Metal Gear, but I'm glad that you mentioned him. His stuff is great, and I can really see it in this piece.
It's crazy to think that I've only found this almost exactly a year after you made it, but I'm glad that I saw it at all!

i own 4 ashley woods aartbooks. its really inspiring i recommend getting one at least
