Comment on The Ice Cave by LynxGriffin

Basic story seems to lean towards a dark Christmas fantasy/epic...that there is a small, hidden hamlet in a deep valley that, while its people are generally friendly and open, has been suddenly growing colder and stranger. The world has "smaller," domesticated versions of mythological creatures (dragons, griffins, etc.) while the original large creatures are all but extinct. The boy lives outside the hamlet with his father; they both run a mint farm. When his father becomes ill, the boy goes on a search for the mythical snow phoenix, an ancient bird that can grant him one wish. However, he ends up also needing the phoenix to take on this dark, ancient force that is behind all the badness in the valley.
