oh
what the hell is the UNSCDF gonna do with tilt-rotors?

you got to think this is befor halo one and so the tech during reach is less advance then the one when halo 1-3 came out
spartanjedi's avatar
not really
Reach was just hours before Halo Combat Evolved
besides, tilt-rotor aircraft hadn't been used since before 2524

the fall (the battle) of reach doesn't take place long before halo CE indeed. i'm not sure it's hours, days or weeks though, cause they could've been in slipspace for a while.

the battle of Reach was just hours before the Pillar of Autumn made its slip space jump to Halo

haven't you played Halo 2?
did you watch the cutscenes?

well in halo 1 MC was the only sparton left. Reach was a really long war. Plus i am sure the they were using everthing they had. including retired gun ammo armor ext... there not much info about Halo reach yet so we have no idea what year it takes place and so snd so

the belief that Spartan 117 is actually the last spartan is actually incorrect. if you read Halo The First Strike and Halo The Fall of Reach, you will realize that a handfull of spartans and Dr. Halsey survived the Covenant assault on Reach.
furthermore, spartans never die. they're just M.I.A.
also, we do know exactly when it takes place. the battle of Reach is a grave chapter in the Human Covenant war. when Reach fell, all UNSC ships initiated Cole Protocol which dictated a random slipspace jump in order to prevent the Covenant from following them to Earth. the Pillar of Autumns jump brought it, its crew, and the Master Chief to Installation 004 (a.k.a. Halo)

and then Halo Combat Evolved happened

Think of it like this: Tiltrotors are probably cheaper to maintain and fuel than a VTOL like a Hornet. That's probably the reason we saw Hornets only in Halo 3 (We were using every resource available, and the Hornet looks like it uses some kind of thruster system to keep aloft.)
Pelicans aside, obviously; they seem to get used often enough and they're VTOLs.

the AV-14 (hornet) actually used afterburning turbofans for lift and propulsion
the D-77 (pelican) vectored 2 sets of bi-directional jets
the fact that the UNSC event had any tilt-rotors left is very hard to believe

Master Chief is the last sparton left. the reports of thos other ships were lost or distroyed. Spartons can die they are not inverable. Spartons are just humans with cybernetic armor. and we do not know how far in the war
Reach will start. Master chief is most likly not the last sparton and there are maybe 2-3 other ones left out there even during halo 3.

is this counting the Spartan III project? cause there was a shit ton of those. but, officially speaking. Spartans don't die. all the records show them as missing in action *wink*
