I think after every frame she changed the stickfigure to a gray-ish color and left it where it was, then added a new black one after it.

Yes, it's the first little button with a blue and white square under the framesbar. It shows multiple frames at once, handy for doing inbetweens.

I think Johnnywhoa is right, didn't saw it was animated. She probably added a new frame, turned everything grey and drew a new black one on the frame. Then repeat.
