I just 'grew up' with the whole Kyle Katarn/Dark Forces thing I guess, I was a teenager in the 90's and played the original game and then the original Jedi Knight over and over and over (played JK online over a dialup modem lol) Back then before Episode one when we didn't actually know anything about the Clone Wars other than that Princess Leia said in her message that Obi Wan Kenobi fought with her father in them. So for the Dark Troopers there was just phase 1 - a killer droid which had a blade and shield and was used to destroy the Tak base on Talay and then the phase 2 which looked like a massive Stormtrooper with flight capability and awesome weapons like the plasma cannon/rocket launcher combo. Then the 3rd phase which was massive and was essentially a mecha that was controlled by a pilot - by Rom Mohc in the end of the game. The 'phase zero' works well, giving the whole clone wars/prequel backstory retcon in this case. It's an EU thing, but they've kept it. Would be cool to see it in the Clone Wars show
