that's okay, I love discussing art xD

I understand what you mean by being scared to loose your original style. I felt like that right before coming to college. But after doing some experimenting, I did notice that my style had changed (though it was a little on purpose since anime style is discouraged here),but as it was changing I noticed that some things stayed or started to be more prominent in my art. And those became my trademarks. Usually they are strong collar bones, straight lines whenever it's possible, and organic lines. It took me a year and a half of experimenting before I noticed these things that defined my style.

So really, I don't think I can encourage experimenting enough. There isn't much to loose and if you don't like something you fried or if it really didn't work out, then you can at least say you've tried and discovered that it wasn't your thing ;)

...wow this turned out into quite a long reply xD

Huh, that is pretty interesting...somehow I have a idea of what college you are talking about. Course, it's probably a vast majority of art colleges around here that discourage that style =/ too bad my style is heavy in the anime/cartoon elements somehow I doubt I'd be able to make it very far if I ever went to art college ><;;

Yeah, you do have a good point. Lol, no worries...I'm a sucker for long replies...just shows it's a healthy discussion =O

awww, I'd still give art college a try! a lot of people start off with a very anime style but then they develop new ones. And hey, it's not like they demand that you stop drawing anime completely. They just don't want it for their assignment ;)

That is true, if they told me to draw a realistic eye and I ended up drawing a anime eye...that would be a tad awkward XD
As long as they don't force you to give up your specific style, it's all good with me...I was thinking NBCC...have you heard anything good about that one per chance? It's just down the street so I'm just a little curious.

That's where I'm going right now xD So that means we actually live close by each other?? lol
Their Media Studies/art fundamentals/whatever they call it now program is really good to get you started. From there you have all the necessary skills to branch off pretty much in any art field you want. I really enjoyed it since you start off following strict directive but by the end of the year the teachers give you their requirements and you're free to basically do whatever you want.
Right now I'm finishing up my first year of animation and even though it was a hard year, it was very rewarding :)

So if you have the time and motivation, the courses here are really good. Without that, then it gets hard.

Yeah, I live in the Rogers Rental Appartment Complex with some friends...scary huh? o_o
Personally I have been thinking of going back to realism to polish off my skills a bit, so something like that would be good for me. Oh, so your doing animation eh? Damn...I'd love to see some of your work, animation has always peaked my curiosity but I'm not sure I have what it takes. I say that, yet I won't know until I've actually tried it...lmao!

Well time is certainly on my side atm, the only thing I need is motivation due to some self-confidence issues. If I can manage to get past that little hill then I should be a-ok XD
