SERIOUSLY?! I made this years ago! It's horridly inaccurate! I actually -just- got done remaking the dress! All I gotta do now is either 1) get a new wig done before I wear this beast of an outfit again or 2) make myself an extension hairpiece for the part that fans out at the back of his head because my own pink and black monstrosity of a hairstyle isn't long enough to do that. XD

I guess this was a decent first jrock cosplay made by a...high school student who could barely sew (...so started with vinyl??? Baptism by fire, I guess XD).

Still, I appreciate the compliment--and the life win-age! XD Thanks, man!

Penny for your thoughts....

A) um...ok....
B) two pennies and you got yourself a deal!
C) Hey! My thoughts aren't that cheap!
D) you REALLY wanna know what I'm thinking? *wink wink*
this is wicked!!! how'd you get your hair to go all j-rockish??? WHAT IS YOUR MARVELOUS SECRET??? *_*
Wicked, huh? THANK YOU!
My secret? Well, Kaoru/jrock hair is veeeery easy to do in real hair if you have a good amount of patients:
-you need some of that cheap, super-holds-like-crazy hair spray or Beyond the Zone hair cementand a high temp flatiron
-Seperate your hair into small horizontal layers, take oen layer at a time and form sections you want to be individual spikes
-Spray the desired soon-to-be-spike with hair spray or coat with hair cement
-run the flat iron over that spike, pull outward, not down like you would when normally striaghten hair (WATCH YOUR SCALP! IT'S REALLY EASY TO BURN YOUR SCALP WITH BOILING HAIR SPRAY AND IT HUUURTS!)
-when that spike is dry and hard (might take a couple passes of the flat iron) move on to others until you finish your head.
- The back of Kaoru's hair is a high ponytail in which the balck extensions are braided and the pink hair is spiked up in a fan, using a similar technique to the rest of his head, spiking-wise
...that was how I did my hair when I used my real hair. The spikes were much nicer but my hair color? Well I have bright red and black hair, not pink, so I used a wig. Started out as just a normal $30 pink shoulder length wig that I sewed black wefted extensions into the back of, cut to Kaoru length, pulled the back up, and spiked. My method was similar to the one i used with my real hair, but you can't use a very hot flat iron on a wig. I used a really low temp one (could stick my fingers in it and not burn em), hair cement, a bit of hairspray (it's a bit to sticky tho), and did the spikes like normal, but set them up on objects at the correct level I wanted them to dry because I couldn't get them dry w/ the flat iron.
There, now you can too have JROCK HAIR! Well, at least know my "marvelous secret." Ah, and thank you so much for the fav! Means a ton to me since this took me forever to finish (the cosplay I mean, the photos actually just got slapped on a document in photoshop in 10 minutes ^^;)
Wow! Thank you so much for the compliment! *laughs* I almost wish it were shop bought--it was one of the most difficult and nerve-wracking things I've ever sewn! I'm glad you like it tho!
Haha. Yeah, my facial expressions are kind of lame. I can't really make Kaoru's "I'm so bad-ass" face right, but it was so fun trying!
wooowwww....thank you soooooooooooooo much for telling me your ways, and that must have taken along time to type too lol I cant wait to try it out! AND I can't wait to see you do more cosplay!!! Thanks again! ^_________^
yayness! I must say I love that outfit > D cannot wait until next year of teh doomish CAGE ERA! >DDDDDDD :dances:
