Oh god I agree. I don't even see why people freak out about age so much, especially in fiction. Yes paedophilia is wrong and a very serious crime, and I of course don't support it. Truly it depends on the characters/people in the relationship.
In reality, the smaller the age gap the better, as society thinks anyways. Yes a grown man with a child is wrong, but is a 14-15 year old with an 18-19 really that bad? heck when I was 14 I was with a 18 year old for two years and we had a very good relationship, we never slept together of course cause it was 'illegal' yet you can still have a great relationship without that, and I never had a problem. I still prefer men a few years older than me because I'm rather mature for my age and the guys my age were all idiots, I'd rather be with someone older and smarter than someone my age who is a total moron.
In fiction however, why does the age gap matter at all? There really are no laws or regulations in fiction so who's being hurt by it? NO ONE. I often like shota pairings simply because the relationship is very in depth and appealing to me, I don't much care for a fictional characters age at all as long as its consensual and the characters work well with each other. For example, Sebastian x Ciel is my favourite shota pairing. First of all Sebastian is a demon and will never age anyways, and Ciel is VERY mature for his age. The characters work well together and make for good fanfiction, fanart etc. even the creator wanted to put them in a relationship but didn't end up doing that because it may not have been as much of a success (though the creator does make her own doujinshi of them).
yes I know, but you forget that most male's at 14-15 are VERY immature. I'm not attracted to that one bit, all I see them as is annoying and stupid, and it is virtually impossible for me to have an intelligent conversation let alone a relationship with them. Yet a guy who is a few years older I can relate to much better, and it's possible to actually have a good relationship. Besides a 3-4 year difference isn't much of a problem in my eyes :/ and I am Australian so 18-19 year olds are often still in highschool here, we don't have college, we have university and it's a choice to go there, not a requirement. And we don't have middle school either, only primary (k-6) and highshool (7-12).
Physically, yes. Mentally, no (though it depends on the person)
I'd rather be with someone older and have a enjoyable relationship. Rather than be with some moron my own age and be completely miserable.
Most girl's mature faster than most guys, so it is quite common for a girl like myself to choose someone older.
