Ooooo, I have not, but I'd love to see that! Does that scarab work?! That would be way cool if it could fly.
It's actually supposed to be some kind of special "artifact"
(They haven't really gone into any detail on the scarab, itself) but it looks to be made of stone, malachite maybe, but the wings flutter like its alive (or mechanical). But, in terms of steampunkish items, you should definitely check out the Warehouse on SyFy. They have things by Tessla and H.G. Wells--verrrry interesting.
Also, if steampunk is your thing, you might want to check out the online graphic novel, Freak Angels. The main character on there is frickin swet.
