Exactly. Adam was portrayed as someone Samus respected and had a reason to respect. His whole death was a giant waste in the plot and by that time you /wanted/ him dead. Adam could have been a really well done character with a death scene that would've made fans /cry/. What we saw in game was a man with terrible leading qualities considering he put Samus in danger, seemingly for spite. They were really just being lazy and sexist.
