Agreed.

It's disheartening that even those who support "gay rights" are shocked when someone they know comes out of the closet, as if they've changed since they've revealed a trivial part of their person (I put gay rights in quotations because I support human rights as a whole). For a clichéd example, take the uproar caused by Dumbledore's outing. My "gay-supporting" friends went all "But it was never hinted at!", "JKR totally killed his character!" "There was no reason to!".
Really, the knowledge of someone's sexual preference does not change them in anyway. They're the same person they were five minutes before they came out.

And then we have the homophobic bigots, but they go without saying.
