But if you become a legend, it's not just 100 years of bliss...

To be remembered forever in the minds of humankind + 100 years of bliss in exchange for eternity in agony?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... slightly more tempting, don't you think? ;D

Sure, you'll be remembered . . .until the world ends. So this "fame" will only be temporary. And you'll still be tortured for eternity while no one remembers you.

That's enough for some. :3

 yeah, for Satanists.

According to Wikipedia, "Satanism is a direction and a school of religious beliefs that comprise a number of related ideologies and philosophical beliefs and social phenomena. They share the feature of symbolism, traditions, veneration or admiration of Satan and/or similar figures or personifications of powers or ideologies."

I don't believe one has to be a Satanist for one to make a deal with Satan. But to each their own.

I would think so. After all, if you make a deal with Satan, then you believe he can give you more than God can, so you take his side, ergo you're a Satanists. Even if you don't participate in all the horrible things those people do, I don't think it makes a difference. Same concept as a Christian who believes in God and Jesus but has never gone to church. That belief alone qualifies them as a Christian, just as making a deal with Satan would qualify one as a Satanist.

Good argument there. But then, you don't have to believe Satan could give you more than God can, only that he gives you something different. And many people make self-destructive choices despite "knowing better."

But I suppose one could argue that if you prefer what Satan can give you more, then because that gift is giving you more utility, you're still Satanist because of the value you place on what he can give you over what God can give you.

Hmm, true, true. :)

lol! Definitely not! And remembered "forever"? Not so much! I know kids today that don't know who Michael Jordan is. And even if you were daily celebrated by the entire world all day every day, the fact would be it wouldn't do YOU a bit of good in your now-present situation, lol.

Plus, the real issue for me is that regardless of where you are, burning or not, you would be separated forever from God. And that alone would be unbearable. Nothing is worth that.

I'd say songs are a bit different-- they're creations. Yes, not everyone will know about Shakespeare, but he's still "immortalized" :3

Anyway, don't take it so seriously. ^^
AngelicLionheart's avatar
Heh, I'm not taking anything too seriously, don't worry. :)

I'm not sure what you're referring to with songs and Shakespeare, but here's why I will never make a deal with the devil, no matter how lucrative it seems (even if say, theoretically, he were to make me a GOOD offer, which is to say, an offer free of malice and somehow in and of itself "worth" pursuing, possibly because he wanted to warm up to me before making a later offer that WOULD harm me; again, this is theoretical because such a thing will never exist): the reason why I would say "No. I am not interested. Go away." is because I know why he is making me the deal in the first place. I know it is to my harm, and even if it weren't this is the person who KNOWINGLY turned his back on God and now seeks to take as much away from God and the people in God's Kingdom as possible... so on principal alone, I refuse to deal with him, because frankly I despise him and he is the one person I feel safe saying "I hope he suffers in agony in Hell, and the sooner the better."

Even apart from principal, the dude just wants bad things for us. There's ALWAYS an angle, a catch with him. So, knowing that, it becomes clear that a person is ALWAYS better off refusing any offers from Satan, no matter what. :)

Of course, common sense says, he wouldn't make the offer unless it's skewed to his advantage, correct? So yes, I agree, lmao.

Anyway, note that I said "slightly more tempting," and there probably are people who would make that exchange.
AngelicLionheart's avatar
Oh definitely. lol. Shortsightedness for the lose. Literally.

I do note that. Pleasant speaking with you! :)

Yes, unfortunately, there are people out there who make self-destructive choices despite understanding the nature of that choice.

You as well. ^^
