You have already asked me about the internet blacklist....

Regarding the "Stop Online Piracy Act" it will not "destroy the internet" it will try to shut down sites that allow people to download for free stolen material, stolen movies, etc. and this may make some people angry who like to download albums before their release date or after their release date and not pay for them, or who try to buy movies in theaters for 2 bucks, or who try to download movies and songs for free when they know it is illegal anyway. So no, the bill will not "shut down the internet" it will try to shut down sites, vendors and so on who knowingly sell stolen or "pirated" materials

There are some division from those on capitol hill, not much about that part of the bill but how it would be implemented. It is clear why sites like Tumblr will be against it, because it allows you to upload any image, copyrighted or not... which technically by law to post a copyrighted piece without the owner's work is illegal anyway.

Hiumane organizations like Reporters without borders, ACLU and human rights watch say this will stop reporting on events, yet reporters have a clause already that they either produce their own videos, photos, and generally news stories are automatically under a common usage and this will not affect them.

The EFF, which does not have much merit to stand on, copyrighted material is owned material so them saying it is unfair that people cannot use copyrighted material without permission would defeat the point of copyrighting your writing, your photos and so on.

The same can be said about the other organizations listed.

I will link you, once again, to the site I linked you to the first time...

So, no, it will not destroy the internet, it may destroy a few sites that engage in selling/allowing illegal downloading of stolen material but... why would I care what happens to a site who makes its profits by illegal selling the work of others....

In fact, we have had laws like this since the 90s, the only thing that has changed is that the current political scope is so dramatic that any little bill will create mass issues.

I expect the current bill to not pass, and will be revised to make it more clear as to its implications and how it will exactly go about doing the stopping the online piracy...

Did that answer your questions?
