Cool, your method isn't too far removed from mine, except I don't toy with the brush settings much when I stroke my paths. I need to...your method looks a lot more effective.

One thing I find helpful when preparing a sketch for inking is to turn the pencils blue...that way it's a lot easier to discern them from pen paths. They tend to blend in with grays.

I used to do that myself. But ever since I ink in Grayscale, I've grown accustomed to just changing my pencil lines' opacity to about 40%.

The level of difficulty is a variable only to what you are used to. And the color of my pencils is never an issue, because I actually know how I pencil, so I know how I'll ink it.

I first developed this technique using Illustrator, so yes, it's based on vector style drawing.
