We use to perform reenactment events and war games with airsoft weapons. So, the helmet (I'm not sure in this case but maybe is an authentic one)have been used, so the marks you noticed.
For the aspect of the face, a little touch with Topaz Adjust help me to achieve this weary and dramatic air he has
