Haha, there's definitely some good things starting to happen here, but it's still incredibly rough and undeveloped. I am beginning to really like the painterly approach to... painting, if something is wrong, you just paint out the problem. Lineart/comics way is different, when you render, it feels more like a coloring book (filling in the pretty lineart). Also, making a correction isn't as easy or quick (for me). However, it is very clean and pretty, but I struggle at that approach (which is really frustrating). I think it's a good idea to try a lot of different approaches, you might find something you like, or even parts of the process you like. Color is another story entirely. It is a tough subject, but I just tried to focus on warm/cool light (not color, light) and strong contrasting values to control the viewers eyes to looking at the head/mug area first (primary focus). So on and so on as I ramble on.

xD I think I just need to work on it more, myself; maybe I'll figure it out. If anything I learned a bunch on value from a charcoal class I had taken lass semester, so that'll help me a little. What you said about light instead of color, though, is interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind.

What program was it you said you use to do these in?
