no prob. i don't know how to even take a video of what i'm doing on a computer screen so i just had to explain. 
one disclaimer about that technique is that it takes a lot of time. probably more time than it is worth it for other people but it's ok with me.

Lol. I will have to attempt this. Not sure how successful I'll be though. I'm used to just painting in photoshop. 
photoshop is amazing but it is too permanent for me. if i decide to change things later, i can't. if i do layers, the file sizes get so huge.
I love working with layers but you are correct in the large file sizes that accompany it. I've been trying to teach myself Illustrator to see if I can combine multiple programs for a single image. So far.... I'm still in the learning Illustrator stage.
