How the hell doesn't Whitebeard kill Akainu?

Well, after Whitebeard defeated Akainu, he watched as the immobile Admiral fall into the ocean as the battlefield around them crumbled apart. Believing that Akainu drowned, Whitebeard continued fighting without checking the body.

True, but I really meant how did Whitebeard make an earthquake around him and not kill him?

Because Akainu is made of sturdy stuff. He can't die that quickly.

I'd like to make the argument that an island is also made of sturdy stuff.

Very true, but this is the wonderful world of One Piece. We're not supposed to over-analyze anything that seemingly defy the laws of physics or anything like that. We're just supposed to enjoy the fights, get sucked into the drama, and drop our jaws when stuff like breaking islands and bodies of water tilt as if they're solids occur.

I dunno, it gets annoying because you can't tell who's the strongest. anybody can turn out to be the strongest just by saying that they're the strongest.

72 years old, already weakened before the fight plus his war wounds, if it was younger whitebeard akainu would have died
