I have to admit that looking at the reflection of the pet, I wonder whether or not I am cross-eyed and seeing double. Perhaps it would help to make the reflection less strong?

You are the second to say something about the reflection, maybe I should change it. But I like it better, you having a double vision. 
So, you did it. I have been thinking about that reflection all the time 
The double vision for me is caused by the main shadow of Ranarh going rather consistently to the upper left, while the fremai reflection goes every which way: top, right and left at the same time.
And while Ranarh has sharp edges, the fremai is rather blurry, strengthening the cross-eyed effect for me.
Bear in mind that I have really no experience in art. That is a layman's opinion
