Ahh thanks a lot man, ive noted down your message, this is damn awesome tips! XSI and all these plugins n stuff seem really hardcore man.

I made a dragon head in zbrush [link] but its like 800k polies man, and i only know one brush the clay buildup one or something, apparecntly its good for organic stuffs xD

You think i should follow youtube tutorials n stuff, or buy some magazines?

Ahh another question i really wanted to ask, and this is the most important one! how to i attach stuff? because i can model and shape the head, and then attach it on to the torso, arms etc, model them all seperately, because making a proper fl body shape from zspheres is damn hard man >.<

Do you have any tutorials?

Damn thanks a lot bro! im gonna be your padawan learner man! :)

So the shopping list is XSI, topgun!

no problems XSI is pretty similar to maya or max if u learn how to work in one of these you'll be able to migrate in another package pretty easy so don't] worry about it u don't] mean that u need XSI in order to learn 3d

yeah utube stuff are pretty usefull watch the official pixologic's tutorials at zbrushcentral

u have an append button at the subtool pallete or if u need a single mesh you can append the subtool and then click merge visible

i only have one but it's not about the zbrush if u r intrested you can watch it here [link]

lol no problem u r welcome btw sorry for late answer was pretty busy

PS the dragon head looks pretty nice

Daaamn bro you just spoke a bunch of magic i couldnt understand right there xD

Ah so XSI is like 3ds max n stuff? is that how you made your hard edged stuff? think youve already answered this but, with all those magic words its hard to keep up ^^

Append>subtool>>mesh>more append! ill remember this! and look for it when i next use zbrush, thanks man!

OMFG, what kinda tutorial is that bro!! that is unbelievable man, how in the world did you do that, the tutorial itself needs another tutorial to understand it, too much magic, yoo bro shouldnt you be workign for transformers?!!? You modelled ALL those engine parts, without even needing half the detail in em? wtf man, how is this possible?

Jeeez man, this is crazy, man how long did this stuff take? How do you make robotic parts? those are the damn hardest man, sculpting using the clay tubes n other stuff is simple, but man all those parameters in 3ds max to make a CIRCLE is just -_________-

Thanks man, for the help bro, yeah i thik i outta start on them zbrush tuts, you say you use maya? is that better than 3ds max or something?

lol i was really sleepy that time and i did a bunch of mistakes sorry

yeah xsi=maya=3dsmax they are pretty similar they have their own strenths and weaknesess but in geberal they are all for the same purpose so u may not run for some certain package just start with anything and then decide what u need all 3 shares the same principals

all hard edged stuff was modelled in XSI im zbrush u can make smth hard but as i said with some limitations it's really hard to controll hard edge in Z when u dealing with some thin geometry etc

Lol tutorial is pretty basic anyway and as for the extra parts it was pretty intresting to model them and i didn't had a clear concept in my head lots of ideas came during the work

u should watch some tutorials about the poly modeling this is tha basic knowlege to make robotic parts it's hard to describe it in a few words just watch and try smth and when u would have some specific questions about that ask me LOL

i've used all 3 3ds max maya and XSI now i'am using XSI but as i said u can start with anything in order to gain some basic knowlege about 3d zbrush is more intuitive but for all this robotic hard edged stuff you still may need traditional 3d application like max maya etc

Sorry for the long reply my brother! but damn firstly d like t congratulate you on getting to the Dom War finals, im rooting for you bro! There are some other insane 3d pieces, but damn does yours stand out on the most originality imo. Though some other are more comlicated, though unneccesarrily which doesnt add to the overall concept design. Wish you the best on it man!

Ahh thanks for all the tips man, i think im gona need to start with 3d max that is the main one, its the parameters/tools and technical stuff i need to learn, the sculpting in zbrush is a bit more freeform but yeah gotta start practising soon enough!

Hey i was wondering how long have you practised on 3d software, and how fast do you think someone can learn the basics etc to be able to make a hallf decent model? Its all about getting fast wiht the shortcuts etc isnt it?

Damn you got hella expereince bro, maya and 3d max!?! and xsi!? whoa thats insane man, you do work for a company right? please tell me you dont with your insane skills
Crashmgn's avatar
to tell u the truth i'am not too excited about getting to the finals i didn't even whatched the results lol and what about u did u make it?

i started with an arcitectural visualisation u can whatch some stuff in my scrapbook it was about a 5 or 6 years ago or smth like that but it was not so cool for me so i switched to the gamedevelopment industry it was about 3 years ago DWIII was my first experience and my first character

that depends from the person i can't say for sure for me the biggest progress was made after whatching tutorials that cover some basic principals and show a pipeline of an artist so all this video tutorials are really helpfull

now i work for two companies as a freelancer - liqud development from usa and gaijin software from russia

Then let me be excited for you bro!! haha, nah man trust me its awesome to make it, its the world stage of awesomeness where other pros look at your work, ofcourse you are already a pro, adn looked at my work now! so im damn grateful. But yeah man to even have some of the worlds prolific artists looking at your stuff is really humbling man. Sadly i didnt make it :( And 2 of my other good mates who had awesome work, you know cyl and wenjuinn? damn man they shoulda been finalists too :/ but they never made i either, i blame this public voting thing man, everyone gets their fans to vote cos theyre famous already :( Just wanted to make the finalists, so some pros can look at my work and maybe i might get some recognition or something :(

No way DW3 was your first, that character was insane man :/ Im guessing you love character concepts now, haha i know i wold, building seem kinda borig, though i neeed to brush up on my envrironment skills :/ always been a character dude meself ^^

Ahh so videos are the key, hopefully once i get some stuff outta the way i can practice on 3d, just some basic stuff so i can make low poly characters fast, might help me in the job hunting run ^^

Ahh so you ARE a freelancer! damn that is awesome bro, i congratualte you though you have probably been working for ages lol, can i ask is the pay decent? enough to live on? i am so broke i need to make this break in the art industry, absolutely penniless xD I was gonna take some more commissions on here but need to just practice more i think :/
