I think Cryptum and the other two books in the Forerunner Trilogy will probably be the only ones that would enhance a person's knowledge of what's going on in H4. I assume they'll carry on with the Bungie did the games, throw in nice little tid-bits that the book readers will get and enhances the whole experience, but ultimately you don't really need the books to enjoy the game.

I dunno there's a lot of talk about the new planet being Onyx and us running into Blue Team

Meh :hmm: we'll see...I highly doubt that the Legendary Planet is Onyx though...it all went plooey when the portal on Onyx closed and then the Sentinels all disconnected.

I'm actually hoping it's not, but I'm ready for anything I guess. No matter what they do in 4 they will never change the events of the first three and I can always claim to be a purist if I feel wronged.

Like how I deal with Star Trek TNG

Haha yeah. I don't think 343i will change anything though, well except the graphical updates to John's armor.

Since you're a self-proclaimed purist I take it you are one of the many people disappointed with the changes Reach made to TFoR?

Actually no, I'm even more purist than that. I tier canon Bungie games first, so anything that happens - even in the books - that isn't explicitly hinted at in the games I consider fair game for me to pitch if it's conflicting with a story or something. I like Fall of Reach and it's probably the MOST canon of the books in my opinion but Flood is obviously askew and I didn't like First Strike at all.

Ah, neat, sounds kinda like me =P I place the word of Bungie (343i now I guess), whether in games or interviews, above any other material not officially by them as first, and if everything else takes back seat to it. I definitely agree with you about the Flood, I never really liked it much because quite a few details weren't quite right with the rest of the story. When it comes to Fall of Reach and Halo: Reach, I'm the type who tries to fit them together as best I can, especially since Bungie said they fit.

Yeah Fall of Reach always felt the most canon
