Comment on Anime is not art? by chirumu

So if the definition of art is so vague, then the question should be different.
How about, "Is Anime quality Entertainment?"
That's also a tough one I guess. In my opinion, it's largely not, but that's me.
I think we need to go the opposite route. My question is:
"Is Anime Kitsch?" [link]
And it's funny that many of the elements that define Anime/Manga, are also key elements of Kitsch.
But then, the Japanese culture has a certain fondness of Kitsch. I mean hey... Kitsch is fun. I like it a little bit here and there... especially in comedy.
But does the value of Kitsch art supersede or even equal the value of more serious art forms. Definitely not.
