May I ask why you switched to ELPlaylist (as opposed to ESPlaylist in FooAero)? I don't understand how to update my playlist with newly added items. In FooAero I would right click on ESPlaylist, select Playlist -> Follow Library, use ctrl+A to select everything, and switch back to Active Playlist, which now included any new items added to my library. Follow Library is no longer an option so how do I update my playlist.
ESPlaylist also had an Operations entry in it's right click menu which allowed filtering of the list with modifiers such as bit rate and date modified which I found very useful. I guess these are no longer present in ELPlaylist?

Well fom the programmer point of view the ELPlaylist is much more powerful panel because it's a script-able and i can do almost whatever i like with it.
Think of it that way ESPlaylist for amateurs, ELPlaylist for professionals.
Why don't you use Library filter system that i have included, it's more powerful and will be updated in real time.
And associated with Playlist organizer plugin in lists tab I think it's more than enough to get quickly the album that you want from library to the ELPlaylist.

For the last question: take a look to ELPlaylist Settings->Grouping. You can create new Group by presets there (Sort format, Group format)
