I'm a noob at this stuff so be aware. Can this be done in Ubuntu 12.04? I did the sudo apt-get install conky in the terminal and it worked but then when I download the file you provide, it just has a read me and a preview picture. Where is the .conkyrc and .conk_start.sh that I am supposed to add to my home folder?

You need to enable hidden files.

Nautilus > View > Show Hidden Files

Or press Ctrl+H

I don't see a folder named Conky or .conky or anything like that. Is it a file or are the files in a folder in the home? Sorry I'm such a noob.

Extract the zip file and press Ctrl+H. You will see the files. You need to place them in your home directory.

Ok. I see now. I thought you meant Ctrl+H in my home directory and would see the files there. I figured it out and it looks awesome! Thanks for helping me.

All right, now for a serious questions since I figured the main part of it out. How can I move it around. It's nice on the bottom left but sometimes it looks better on the top right or bottom right. Also, can I change the color of the text?

If you open the .conkyrc file in a text editor, you'can change the alignment in this part,

alignment bl
gap_x 100
gap_y 100

Here bl stands for bottomleft.

And color is defined here,

default_color FFFFFF
