That's because wolves are physically incapable of making weapons and humans are. Humans are able to make weapons and tools and it's what they've historically hunted with. So, assuming the humans have their spears, clubs and nets the wolves die (realistic scenario because humans who come in contact with wolves on a regular basis would carry weapons). Your scenario (an unrealistic one at that because wolves don't hunt humans) ;the humans don't have any weapons and are ambushed by the wolves. But, they may not necessarily die because there's a reason why humans are the highest in the food chain; intelligence and ingenuity. The wolves could be lead into some kind of dangerous terrain or pushed off a cliff. Also remember that humans are also physically capable as well, a good punch to the side of the neck or head and a wolf is incapacitated. Even if the wolves did have tools and spears of their own (to make it fair by your logic) the humans would still win because wolves can't use them.
Tldr version: humans win
