I haven't kept rats very long, I've only had Deezle about two years or so. And he's a joy to have. People shouldn't judge these sweet little creatures until they've had the experiance of ownign one as a pet. 
They truely can be affectionate loyal little critters.

Best pets in my eyes. Shame about the life span...even though it's painful to see them go...I know I'm always going to have them as pets 
Its upsetting, getting to love a little guy and then loosing him all too soon. 
Sadly its not something we can avoid.
