I think this is a quite well-written chapter. There's something a little jarring that comes from your use of the names like 'Derpy' and 'Dinky' alongside your great descriptions, but that's just my perception.
I found it also a little odd that the ponies can use things like pens and doors and the like, while having hooves. I expect it isn't really explained at all in the series, but that was just one thing I noticed.
Also, killing someone with a pen. I really don't know - maybe if you hit someone in just the right spot you could kill them, but my initial reaction was a bit disbelieving.
Keep up the good work! I'm afraid I'm not really catching all the references to all the other works you're apparently including, but you're still a good writer. (In my opinion.)

To be perfectly honest, the names are the one thing in this fandom that I simply cannot stand at all. Derpy, Dinky, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, they are incredibly painful to write, especially in this setting, which is one that requires the creation of a sort of atmosphere that is difficult to manage with names like that. But, unfortunately, the names are not up for changing, so I have just to work with it >.>
The show explains it more or less, the unicorns use quills/knobs/books and such through telekinetic magic, and somehow the pegasi and regular ponies are adept at writing by holding the pens in their mouth. Not sure how they manage it, but it's in the show, so it's in the fic
As for death by pen, well, normally I would agree with you. Ballpoint, roller-ball, fiber tip, even fountain nib, all of those are relatively harmless. But the type of pen that I refer to here, an old fashioned metal calligraphy point (namely the fine point sizes), well, those are rather scary to tell the truth. I don't know if you've ever used one, but the antique style nibs are frequently an incredibly sharp point, almost like a knife tip in my experience, and on more than one occasion I have sullied my paper with blood splots after accidentally stabbing myself with the point. Add some desperate telekinesis and good aim, and you've got a deadly weapon my friend. Hell, I've even heard of several court cases where a pencil was the murder weapon of all things.
