Beautiful colors, perfect placement of brush strokes! Overall very vibrant and extremely appealing to look at! Your gallery is insanely beautiful. I'm jealous of your skill.
Do you have a preferred medium? Would you mind breaking down your technique for me a little? Do you do a wash before adding the general color? What is your process?
Also I was considering buying some mansonite, how is that to paint on?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I prefer oils on masonite. Oils give me a longer working time to mix strokes on the surface, and the masonite is a very good smooth surface especially when working small. I've written a breakdown of my process on my blog: [link]

Thanks again!

I can't thank you enough, this is beyond useful.
One last question, what is your general mixing for light / mid / dark skin tones, if you don't mind me asking. I realize this varies by the subject, but generally you must use a fairly consistent mix?
Thanks again.

You're welcome.
It does vary from subject to subject. Lighting plays the biggest role in determining the colors, so the skin tones can really be anything. I may use more blues and greens in fair skin, and warmer colors in dark skin. If the light is cool, I used warm colors in the shadows. If the light is warm, I use cooler colors in the shadows. I try not to formulate the process too much.

Thank you,
I generally struggle with lighting / color usage to replicate that light.
This should help a reasonable amount, I'll try it out and see what I come up with. Keep up the great work, I'll be watching.
Best of luck to you.
