many people here debate if slavery was the cause of the war. (There were other economic factors involved.) Most who side with the South debate that it was about state's rights, not slavery.

Yes, since posting this comic I have had a fair few comments informing me about how the war actually started (admittedly it's not something I'm an expert on and I did this as silly fun). It's interesting to get the proper history since there seem to be people who know their stuff.

And the reason they fought for state's rights was to keep slavery.
That's what my school says but it wouldn't be the first time they lied.

There might be /some/ truth to that, but if I remember correctly, Lincoln told them they could keep their slaves if they stayed in the Union. I think they were also paying a higher tax than the North.

Ah, I see.
Then again, it probably depends on who you ask. Northern citizens would probably say something different than northern politicians.
